Vodu is a free-to-use communication application that works as a discussion board for everything related to movies and TV series. It sports a layout similar to other video-on-demand streaming platforms like Netflix or Amazon Prime Video, but instead of showing programs, it redirects you to discussion boards about everything on the show. Unfortunately, it is limited to users in Iraq with minimal support for other regions and languages.

For cinema and television enthusiasts, the concept of Vodu makes for a great discussion platform. However, the rest of the world would have to make do with various film-related communities under Reddit.

An independent discussion platform

The main feature of Vodu is its independence, allowing Iraqi-based viewers and fans to freely state their opinions. With no backing or affiliation from major studios or networks, it feels like an entire platform for the people. It covers a wide range of shows, too. From Hollywood works to local television shows, registered users can freely comment and reply to posts made by others.

In terms of visuals, it sports an intuitive layout. As mentioned, it’s largely similar to most video streaming platforms, it even has a limited capability for streaming video content. All content is also hosted on private and localized servers. Aside from its growing catalog of shows, it also has a notifications area that tells users whether someone has commented or reacted to their posts or comments.

It’s also convenient and quick to install, thanks to its small file size of only 10 MB. However, since it is not supported among common app downloading platforms, you’ll have to manually download every new version as it comes out. Also, as mentioned earlier, this is only limited to Iraq and the app has been reported to have support and compatibility issues when used in other regions.

Promising app with location limits

If you’re a fan of digging deep into movies and TV shows, Vodu is a great platform to spend hours of time in–provided you’re currently located in Iraq or neighboring locations. It has an intuitive app layout familiar to most audiences and even keeps you updated on the conversation with its custom notifications. Also, if you don’t mind manually downloading updates every now and then, it’s a great app.
